Arkansas – general requirement for E9-1-1 service, but does not specifically speak to PBX application 1 Colorado law applies to resellers using a PBX. Connecticut – general requirement for E9-1-1 service, but does not specifically speak to PBX application 2 Illinois dates apply to new installs and replacements. The law does not apply to Key systems unless they’re connected to PBX or Centrex systems. 3 Kentucky law applies to university dorms if they’re serviced by a PBX/KTS but not to state university dorms. The note on the installed base does not apply to PBX/KTS operated by state agencies or hotels/motels, while for others it must be implemented within three years of the effective date of the act where E-911 service is available, and it applies to new and installed base. 4 Mississippi’s law applies to areas with E-911 capabilities only with up to a five-year grace period to comply with the National Emergency Number Association (NENA) ALI format. Tennessee: Upon deregulation of telecommunications services in Tennessee, the Tennessee Regulatory Authority promulgated New Rule Chapter 1220-4-8. Included in the new rules is a requirement that “Shared Tenant Service Providers” provide database information on every customer, which would create an adequate ALI database. 5 Texas law applies to businesses on a voluntary basis and to learning institutions that can provide E-911 access. 6 In Washington, local fire marshals, who have enforcement authority, may require E-911 access for business PBX (non-shared switch). The law applies to the installed base, except hospitals. Multi-tenant business application is dependent on the floor area and number of floors in the facility. In Ohio, a bill based on the NENA model legislation has been drafted, but is not yet introduced. In Pennsylvania, a bill based on the NENA model legislation is being drafted, but is not yet introduced. |
