Bobby: During the implementation phase of EMD in WestmorelandCounty PA, we had some like scenarios. Individual EMS dispatchpoints of varying degree. The EMS Medical Directors provided theCounty Commissioners with reccomendations on EMD and the”need” to have one point of instructions. Not an easytask for County Commissioners to undertake in a Commonwealthsystem of government. However, it has been accomplished. Afterall the meetings, specifically siting the need for consistancyand liability coverage of providing medical instructions viaphone, the county 9-1-1 center (primary PSAP) will “onebutton” connect a caller to the appropriate dispatch point,but they stay in the call and once the location information (andwhatevere else) is obtained, they (the PSAP) provides EMD. It’sworking well, but it was not without numerous meetings andkeeping the physicians heavily involved. Good Luck. https://www.qems.com
