Keeping Your PSAP Finely Tuned

This course will introduce PSAP managers and emergency communications officials to the many facets of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) that directly impact communications center operations, and will help 9-1-1 professionals understand the difference between proper and improper practices as defined by the law.
Participants will learn how this landmark piece of legislation not only affects internal PSAP functions by defining specific administrative requirements, employment practices, and accommodations for disabled applicants and employees, but also how it shapes the way PSAPs function and deliver service due to the provisions that mandate the disable community have equal access to services and facilities. Attendees will learn how to conduct periodic mandatory agency evaluations, engage in personnel training, and implement other key tools that will help ensure your 9-1-1 center is in full compliance with all aspects of the ADA.
